Clinging to the rugged Italian Riviera coastline, the five villages of Cinque Terre are a masterclass in living harmoniously with nature. Connected by ancient footpaths that wind through terraced vineyards and olive groves, each village has its own personality — from the colorful harbor of Riomaggiore to the dramatic clifftop perch of Corniglia.

Bibury

Honey-stone cottages in England's green heart

William Morris called Bibury 'the most beautiful village in England,' and walking along Arlington Row — a terrace of 14th-century weavers' cottages built from honey-colored Cotswold stone — it's hard to argue. The River Coln meanders through the village past ancient churches and wildflower meadows, creating a scene that belongs on a biscuit tin.

Oia

White-washed dreams above the caldera

Gruyeres

A medieval hilltop wrapped in cheese and chocolate

Beyond its fairy-tale appearance, this is the birthplace of the famous cheese, and the unexpected home of the H.R. Giger Museum — making it a delightful collision of the quaint and the surreal.
